Honey Bitter

umechanSo, continuing with the shoujo theme. I finished up Honey Bitter, the latest Obana Miho title. It looks like it's a romantic drama about an 18/19 year old girl with mind-reading and premonition abilities who works at a detective agency/all-round service provider. I really like this so far - it's got all the real-life issues wrapped in a less than real-life situation markings of an Obana Miho title. <3
At the start of the series, Shuri, the main character, has taken a trip abroad to New York to try and make some changes in her life and come to terms with the fact that she will always be different. There she gains confidence from helping the local police in cracking some homicide case. When she returns to Japan, she finds that her Aunt, Saho, who she also works for, has unknowingly hired her ex-boyfriend, Riki, who she had a pretty traumatic past with. Her aversion to men is largely due to the painful experiences she had with him, although the ability to read minds doesn't help much either. Her company also ends up hiring a really nice young man she'd met in New York at a firing range - Youta (oh! I like him! He's so cute!). This is no doubt the setup of a triangle of sorts.
Youta is really adorable. The things Shuri sees in his mind are so very simple. XD For instance, when she meets him again in Japan, he's rented out an apartment in her Aunt's building. She calls him nanpa-kun at first. XD; Seems he found out she was living here from an article he read in NY. She's thinking, uh, isn't that kind of like stalking? *sweatmark* At which point they have an adorable conversation where he comes to the conclusion that, hey he might be kind of a dangerous character. XD;
So she takes a peek into what he's thinking, just in case you know, he's not as simple as he seems and is actually plotting something. And his train of thought is So Cute!

"oh, well. just wanted to see her, but..."
"I like her ;___;"
"and I'm hungry ;____;"
"she seems more gloomy than when she was in NY"
"did something happen?"
"maybe I should pull a gag.. it might cheer her up"
"I'd even eat sweet things"
"I don't have any money. Arg."
"so hungry ;____;"
So anyways, I guess I'll be picking up the rest of this when it comes out. ^^;
