So there's all this hubbub going on about ADV emailing this fairly popular tracker asking that their licensed titles be removed, right? I don't see what the big deal is. Oh, I expected all the complaining and whining, which is happening right on schedule. But there are some really strange things going on at those sites where people are ...
- Debating whether or not the email is legit, asking the site owners to contact ADV to confirm whether or not this was actually sent by them. (some even suggest the legal department XD;) Because, you know, if it wasn't they would surely let them keep those licensed torrents up. ... >_>;
- Suggesting that the site owners ignore the letter even if it is legitimately sent by ADV. Because the company is supposedly not going to waste the time to sue, and even if they did, they'd lose. o_O ?_?
- "helpfully" posting up a number of sites which still have licensed torrents up. Because, you know, advertising those sites at the site which was contacted by ADV is the smartest and best thing to do to further their cases. (You know, all the usual ones about how the company is "greedy" and they should get things free because.. because.. because.. ) -_-
- Boasting about how glad they are that they were able to finish downloading XXX-series before this so that they don't have to buy it when it does come out. ??? How is this relevant to the topic at hand?
Weren't people expecting something like this to happen eventually? I'll admit, I'm sometimes disappointed when a series I really like gets licensed or removed right before the end, or somewhere in the middle of it. But this doesn't make me hate on the licenser... They're just doing their jobs. People seem to forget that we're the ones in the wrong, doing the shady things in the first place. There's all this public outrage, as if they were wronged or something. Really, shady things should stay in shady places.
