HxH musical
I watched the first musical so far and it's good! It's much better that the PoT one, which I cringed the whole way through. It's a lot better choreographed and staged for one. And I'm impressed with the singing. It's not 100% wonderful and perfect stage quality singing, but they're not doing bad at all for not being singers/stage/opera people. The main four's singing isn't bad at all. I think the weakest singer is Mitsuhashi Kanako (Killua's seiyuu). But even she isn't as horribly off key as some of the PoT people. (I swear some of them can't sing at all/are tone deaf)
I like that they created a side story for the musical, and the in-joke is highly appreciated here. XD And a number of additional bones thrown to the fangirl audience. Although I personally don't want to read about slash for this series, the bones amuse me anyways. :P Particularly during the curtain call where Takahashi Hiroki and Takeuchi Junko skip out. Just listen to the fangirls scream. *dies laughing*
I have major love for Takeuchi Junko now. She rocks! She has an awesome stage presence and she literally becomes Gon. <3 Her profile in the little pamphlet thing says she has some musical numbers tucked under her belt already, so that might be why. Her voice isn't the most beautiful thing ever, but it's really strong. And I think that's the point - Gon shouldn't sound lovely. I have so much respect for her - attempting to sing in Gon's voice and all. She's awesome! :D
I think the girls have some trouble singing in their characters voices, because they wave in an out of their real voices or a combination of the two. But kudos to them anyways since it must be difficult to do. Leorio's seiyuu makes an adorable Leorio! XD And I always like Kaida Yuki :P Mitsuhashi Kanako is surprisingly cute. :P At first, it was strange to hear their voices coming out of real people who you don't associate with the characters, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I think it really helps the musical to have the seiyuu acting as their characters, because it makes that jump from animated to real much, much easier on the audience.
I finally got to see Hiroki-san perform Ookina Ringo no Ki no Shitade as Hisoka! XD And Hiroki-san? He has a dance number. XD;;
Now all I need is to see Hiroki-san perform Chichi wo Moge live! (preferably in the Parco Folgore getup) I would kill to see this. >_<; Now that I think about it, it'd be pretty amusing to see someone cosplay Parco Folgore and karaoke the song too! Complete with mini-drama in between. XP~
